Fridays@1 | Towards a better model: from a house of dirt to Superfab

Friday November 15th 2024 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Join the founder of Superfab, Andy Powell, as he traces his two decades of practice within and between contemporary architecture, building, and development in search of better ways to cultivate our built environment. It’s a story of earning a degree in Architecture, then seeking to learn how things work from the ground up: spanning from hand building a simple house in the desert to developing furniture and building systems for giants like Airbnb and Google, to supporting the design and development of PDX Next, and ultimately manufacturing a host of signature interior elements that will stand in the airport’s remarkable new space for generations to come.

Where does good work come from? What does the process of creating a better practice of architecture look like? The future calls upon us to discover just that.

What is Friday@1?

On most Fridays at 1 p.m. during the academic term, PSU School of Architecture students and faculty gather to hear from professional designers and architects, academics, visiting artists, innovators, and students in the program. Friday@1 is a perfect way to wrap up each week of intense creativity in the studio and get inspired for the productive weekend ahead.

Free and Open to the public. All are welcome.
