Join us this Friday to hear Thomas Hubka present his book How the Working-Class Home Became Modern 1900-1940. This narrative traces changes in household hygiene, sociability, and privacy practices that launched large portions of the working classes into the middle class. Hubka will also draw parallels between the findings in his book and the issues and narratives of housing within Portland.

Who is Thomas Hubka?

Hubka earned his bachelor's degree in Architecture from Carnegie-Mellon University and a Master's degree from the University of Oregon. He is a very successful professor and writer, having published numerous titles. Thomas is an architectural historian whose primary focus is vernacular architecture and related issues of architecture and cultural meaning.

What is Friday@1?
