Fridays@1 | Designing your Future: Creating Value in Your Career

Friday November 1st 2024 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Becoming a licensed architect involves several essential steps, beginning with completing a professional degree in architecture. Aspiring architects then participate in the Architectural Experience Program (AXP), where they gain practical experience in critical areas such as design and project management. Following this, they must pass the Architect Registration Examination (ARE), which tests their knowledge across various topics like construction documents and building systems. Recent program updates have introduced more flexible requirements and exam formats to better align with industry standards. Transitioning from academic training to professional practice is crucial, requiring applying theoretical knowledge in real-world settings, supported by mentorship and ongoing education. Ultimately, licensure enhances an architect’s credibility and opens up a more comprehensive array of career opportunities and the potential for increased earning power.

What is Friday@1?

On most Fridays at 1 p.m. during the academic term, PSU School of Architecture students and faculty gather to hear from professional designers and architects, academics, visiting artists, innovators, and students in the program. Friday@1 is a perfect way to wrap up each week of intense creativity in the studio and get inspired for the productive weekend ahead.

Free and Open to the public. All are welcome.
