Join us as we celebrate the completion and release of our recording of early, unpublished Fanny Hensel Lieder. This is a profoundly beautiful repertoire that hasn't been recorded or published, and mostly not performed for close to 200 years. Fanny Hensel, the wildly talented sister of Felix Mendelssohn, was one of the most voluminous and important composers of German Lieder of the entire 19th century. The classical music world is still largely unaware of over half of these wonderful pieces. Come and help us start to rectify that situation! We are excited to present selections from this repertoire as well as other marvelous works by Fanny Hensel, and will also offer a bit of insight into the process behind our project. The remarkable cellist Hamilton Cheifetz will join us for this event, as well as pianist Chuck Dillard, and the other members of our PSU vocal community. Please come and support underrepresented music, and feast your ears on these neglected scores. You can learn more about the album here, and CDs will be available for purchase at the concert.
