The Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education is proud to present the 2024 Portland Jewish Film Festival.

Vishniac: The film takes us on a journey through the various chapters in the life of photographer Roman Vishniac. From the cosmopolitan streets of pre-war Berlin to the shtetlach in Poland and Lithuania to the Princeton offices of Albert Einstein, Vishniac’s achievements in art and science invited praise and controversy. Best known for capturing images of pre-Holocaust Jewish life and culture in Central and Eastern Europe, his astonishing portfolio became the last visual records of an entire vanished time, place and people. Vishniac explores the person behind the photos, while illuminating the many surprising chapters of his life. Vishniac’s images and Director Laura Bialis’ beautifully-constructed reenactments are especially stunning on the big screen! Vishniac is 1 hour and 30 minutes in length and will be followed by a brief talk back program.

Tuesday, January 9: Remembering Gene Wilder
Wednesday, January 10: Vishniac
Thursday, January 11: The Artist’s Daughter and Mom & Judy
Saturday, January 13: Nathanism and The Anne Frank Gift Shop
Sunday, January 14: Irena’s Vow
