Scholarship Programs

*NEW* Graduate Business Admissions Scholarship Programs

As part of your master’s application to the MBA, JD/MBA, MT, MSF, MRED, and MSGSCM program, every applicant who completes the merit-based or needs-based scholarship essays will be considered for these scholarships at the time of admission.
 
While scholarship essays will remain open throughout the application cycle, we encourage candidates to complete their applications early so they can be considered for these scholarships. If you have already submitted a graduate business program application and would like to be considered for a scholarship by our admissions committee, please contact SBAGradAdmissions@pdx.edu for further information.
 
  • Graduate Business Leaders Scholarship Program
Investing in the future generation of outstanding business leaders is our primary focus in Graduate Business Programs. We are pleased to offer Graduate Business Leaders Scholarships to make our programs more accessible to the next generation of those redefining business and propelling themselves forward with a visionary purpose.  These scholarships are designed to offer financial assistance to competitive applicants who will significantly impact our School of Business graduate community.
 
  • Graduate Business Access-Based Scholarship Program
We are dedicated to welcoming outstanding leaders into our community and mitigating barriers to accessing education so those students can thrive. We are happy to offer needs-based scholarships for qualified applicants.
 

Portland State University Scholarships

The School of Business commits more than $300,000 in scholarships each year to undergraduate and graduate students, including part time, full time, and international students. If you are an admitted student or will be applying for the 2019-2020 academic year, we encourage you to submit the PSU Scholarship Application by February 1, 2019.

Note: The PSU Scholarship Application is separate from the Graduate Program Applications

Program Specific Funding & Scholarship Opportunities
 

  • Master of Real Estate Development

Students enrolled or planning to enroll in the Master of Real Estate Development are eligible for additional scholarships through the Center for Real Estate. To apply, students must submit an online scholarship application through PSU’s main scholarship system and answer the MRED essay question to be considered for scholarships. Please refer to the CRE Scholarships page for more information.

  • Master of Science in Finance & The Portland MBA students sitting for the CFA exam

As a certified partner of the Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) Institute, Portland State Finance faculty are able to award 14 scholarships each year to defray the cost of enrolling in the CFA Program ($1,400). To apply for the PSU-CFA Scholarship, students must be admitted to one of our graduate programs and complete the application by January 15, 2019.

International Student Scholarships

In addition to graduate assistantships and scholarships available to students of all citizenships, Portland State’s Office of International Affairs and International Student Services administers two scholarships specifically for international students: The International Cultural Service Program (ICSP) and the International Student Retention Scholarship (ISRS). PSU Office of Financial Aid

US citizens and permanent residents may qualify for federal financial aid through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The FAFSA institutional code number for Portland State University is 003216.
Once you have submitted your FAFSA application, Portland State University's Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships can assist you in utilizing federal, private, and institutional funding programs in financing your degree.

Working While in School 

Graduate Assistantships

Graduate Assistantships are offered throughout Portland State University and are usually posted on individual department websites. However, open positions can be found on The Graduate School website.

On-Campus Student Employment

The School of Business and Portland State both offer a number of opportunities to work part-time on campus while going to school. Once you are admitted to a graduate program, you will be able to create an account on our internal job posting site, Handshake, and begin looking for opportunities. As graduate students, your skills and experience are often in demand across the University.
