Rebecca Miller, MPA

As the Planner for Multnomah County Aging, Disability, and Veterans Services Division (ADVSD), Rebecca's responsibilities include writing and updating the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) Area Plan. She also supports ADVSD's three consumer advisory councils: Elders in Action Commission, Disability Services Advisory Council, and the Multicultural Action Committee. Rebecca serves as a contract liaison for new programs as needed and leads public engagement efforts to identify community needs.

Rebecca's studies as a Master of Public Health at PSU provided her with a solid foundation of the aging field: "I made invaluable connections to organizations and individuals that have carried over into my new job, making the transition from university to work relatively easy and very rewarding. What made IOA a unique learning experience for me was the dedicated and knowledgeable faculty and the clear connection they help make between theory and practice. While I was a student, I was encouraged to pursue topics of interest that related to aging. I've been able to apply the knowledge gained in the classroom in my job on a daily basis and continue to turn to the Institute on Aging as a source of support, knowledge, and partnership. It is an extraordinary experience to work alongside talented, dedicated, and humble people who share my passion for this often overlooked and undervalued field."
