PSU student wins Oregon student employee award for sixth consecutive year

Winners

Portland State University recognized its outstanding student employees April 11 at an awards ceremony in Smith Memorial Student Union as part of the National Student Employment Association’s annual celebration honoring student employees across the country. PSU Provost, Sona Andrews, helped congratulate each award winner. She says, “Each student employee fulfills a valuable role on our campus. We know that student employees have to balance their studies, work and outside commitments and that it can be challenging to do so. We are deeply grateful to all of you for your work to make Portland State a great place to study, live, and work.”

There are over 2,500 student employees at PSU. This year, event organizers received more than 115 nominations from the campus community for student awards and more than 130 nominations for supervisor awards. Out of these nominations, the event recognized the particular work and excellence of nine students and six supervisors. Each student employee that was nominated received a certificate of recognition.

Cree Dueker was honored with the top campus award, Student Employee of the Year, and was simultaneously recognized as Oregon Student Employee of the Year by the Western Association of Student Employment Administrators. For six consecutive years, Portland State University has been home to the recipient of the statewide award. Cree works as a Mentor, Student Coordinator of Orientation Programs, Lead Student Office Assistant in Advising and Career Services, and Front Desk and Event Worker in the Native American Student and Community Center. One of Cree’s nominators said, “She shows her co-workers every day that involvement across the campus is fun and enriching. She directly impacts and inspires our office with her dedication.”
