Kimberly Koops

Portland State University announced the appointment of Kimberly Koops to the position of Associate Vice President of Government Relations.

Koops was chosen for her experience in advocacy for higher education at the  state and federal level and her commitment to mobilizing constituencies to support student success.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kimberly to Portland State. She will work closely with me and our Government Relations team to build and execute an advocacy strategy for Portland State,” said Sheila Martin, vice president for Public Affairs and chief of staff.

“I am honored and excited to lead the PSU Government Relations team,” Koops said. “I’m ready to dive in to craft and execute initiatives that lead to stronger support for PSU at every level of government.”

Kimberly currently serves as the Associate Vice President of Government Relations at Oregon Institute of Technology. While at Oregon Tech, Kimberly developed and executed the university’s legislative and federal policy and budget agendas, advocated for complex general fund and capital requests at the state level, and congressionally directed spending and programmatic requests
at the federal level.

“I welcome Kimberly as a key member of our team,” said PSU President Ann Cudd. “We have an ambitious agenda and Kimberly will help us build support at the local, state, and federal levels as Portland State charts its new future.”

Kimberly will start in her new role on February 1.
