The University of Illinois Chicago Health System (UIC / UI Health) engaged ZGF Architects to help them design a new, state-of-the-art facility to shift outpatient procedures from their main hospital into a less intense, more integrated clinic setting. The project will be UIC’s new 200,000sf, 6-level center for same-day surgery and robotic surgical procedures, with an anesthesia clinic, eight procedure rooms, 24 pre-/post-operation bays, supporting clinics, imaging, and a new pharmacy.

Key discussion points in the presentation will be, integrating a modern design into a Neo-Gothic campus, pushing high design in an alternate delivery model (design-build,) full-scale design mock-ups, planning for flexibility, and crafting details to reinforce overall concepts.

What is Fridays@4?

On most Fridays at 4:00 p.m. during the academic term, PSU School of Architecture students and faculty gather to hear from professional designers and architects, academics, visiting artists, innovators, and students in the program. Fridays@4 is a perfect way to wrap up each week of intense creativity in the studio and get inspired for the productive weekend ahead.

Free and open to the public. All are welcome.
