Whether you've never worked with the media before or consider yourself a pro, join us for media training this spring. We're teaming up with Brad Phillips of Throughline, who has trained thousands of academics, researchers and scientists. He will lead two virtual, interactive media training and messaging workshops to help you become the most effective media interviewee.

  • Session One (Friday, April 28; 10am - 12pm): In this opening two-hour session, you'll learn best practices for media interviews, including how to prepare messages and message supports, and how to manage challenging questions.
  • Between Sessions One & Two: Participants will have the opportunity to complete message development worksheets prior to Session Two.
  • Session Two (Friday, May 5; 10am - 12 pm): For this two-hour session, a few participants’ key messages will be reviewed and we'll conduct a handful of practice interviews. Body language and physical delivery for both a remote and in-person format will also be discussed.

Both events are open to faculty, researchers, graduate students and communicators. For those who are unable to make one or both of the live training, both sessions will be recorded and made available on a private page for on-demand viewing.
