Richard Tymerski (S’87–M’88) received his B.Sc. degree in mathematics and his B.E. and M.Eng.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, in 1977, 1980, and 1983, respectively, his M.S. degree from California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, in 1984, and his Ph.D. degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, in 1988, both in electrical engineering. During 1980–1983, he was an Electronics Engineer with Medtel Pty. Ltd. and Newsound Electronics Pty. Ltd., Sydney, Australia. Since 1988, he has been with the Electrical Engineering Department, Portland State University, where he is currently an Associate Professor. During the 1998–1999 academic year, he was a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Fellow at Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan.
