Dr Carstens is an Assistant Professor of Real Estate and Finance in The School of Business at Portland State University. She holds a PhD and MBA from Stellenbosch University in South Africa. Her research interests include commercial real estate investment and finance, textual analysis, REITs and the value of machine learning and other innovative technologies for the real estate industry. Her research has been published in the Journal of Real Estate Research, Journal of Property Research, Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management and Journal of Real Estate Literature.
She serves as a reviewer for journals and regularly presents at conferences in the field. In her spare time, Riëtte learns more about real estate relevant technology and enjoys going for long walks.
