I am a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Portland State University. Before I returned to teaching in 2019, I have been in administrative positions at PSU, University of Colorado, Boulder and Denver for many years. I founded a data storage research center at University of Colorado, 1998 - 2002, and was appointed as the director of the the Center for Space Construction at the University of Colorado, 1990 - 1997. In the years when I was an active researcher I was appointed twice as Research Associate of National Research Council, at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, California.
I was given Presidential Young Investigator Award, 1985-1990, and elected as Fellow of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in 1995 for research contribution in advancing the theory of feedback linearization.
