Profile

My name is Nasir Sheikh and I am a Ph.D. student in the Engineering and Technology Management (ETM) department at Portland State University (PSU).  I was privileged to receive the Dean’s Scholarship Award, be inducted into Omega Rho and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies, and am maintaining a 4.00 GPA.  Two of my research papers and a book chapter have been accepted for publication. I consider myself fortunate to have Dr. Kocaoglu, the department chair, as my advisor and mentor.

I have 20+ years experience in global sales, marketing, and product development and hold an M.S. in Electrical Engineering. I am a management consultant for renewable energy and healthcare/life sciences with a focus on emerging technologies and new lines of business.  I have three children: Nadia, who is completing her M.S. at London School of Economics, Omar, who is entering Oregon State University Honors College and Noor, who is a rising junior in Lake Oswego High School.

I was seeking colleges that could provide more rigor and depth in my area of interest.  I discovered that PSU had a world-class ETM department with the best program to cover combined disciplines of technological innovation; new product development; technology marketing, and forecasting; strategic planning; and decision making.  My quest is to make business strategy actionable with products and technologies and the ETM department is the right prescription with a rigorous yet supportive environment.  I look forward to the completion of my Ph.D. and to applying the methodologies and research I have learned and developed at ETM.
