Evan brings his background in bridge engineering and law to his instructional position at PSU. He worked as a Bridge Designer at David Evans and Associates and TY Lin International, with the Sellwood Bridge Replacement as his most recent project. He also received a J.D. degree and practiced as an intellectual property attorney, focusing on patent prosecution and litigation for Knobbe Martens. Evan teaches courses at the freshmen through graduate level, from introductory engineering mechanics through the final Capstone course. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Evan serves as an adviser to multiple student groups, including the PSU chapter of American Society of Civil Engineers, and provides academic and professional advising to Civil and Environmental Engineering students as the Department's Associate Chair of Undergraduate Programs. Evan has also served as an adviser for multiple undergraduate honor theses, as well as multiple M.S. thesis committees. While these thesis topics primarily focus on structural engineering topics, Evan has also been involved with research related to sustainable construction methods and transportation infrastructure.
