Role: Assistant Director of External Relations

Education: B.S. Social Science, Minor in Civic Leadership; MPA Expected, 2012 (NonProfit Management/ Development Concentration)

Crystal works with the Advancement Team for the Graduate School of Education and the School of Social Work, working to make sure that donors, friends, and alumni find meaningful ways to connect with our important work.  Annual giving, scholarship management, stewardship, events, gift processing and information management, and alumni engagement are central to Crystal's work. In the School of Social Work Crystal is also responsible for external communications, social media,  and coordination of the web editors team.

Previous to life at PSU Crystal held positions in communications, development, office/volunteer management, community organizing, and pediatric dentistry. Areas of interest include poverty, public education, leadership and community development, strategic and organizational development, social justice, and the power of story.

Crystal Trivia: Crystal's family dog, Kiwi, the Wonder Chihuahua is a whopping 7 pounds of love. She likes to wait for stray bits in the kitchen while Crystal is listening to NPR, and cooking up a storm. Free time is rare as a working graduate student and mom, but if she has an extra few minutes on a Sunday morning you might find her scouring second hand stores, or making lists somewhere with a cup of coffee. Crystal has a little known love of charts, graphs, and infographics, and dreams of actually spending time in the garden, someday.
