Holiday Employee Discounts

PSU staff & faculty are invited to shop at the Columbia Sportswear Company Employee Store from November 30th – December 24th. You will receive the employee discount (items Marked at 40-50% off regular retail pricing). Please bring the attached invite along with proof of your employment. This pass is valid for you plus four guests.


November 2018

Due to three holiday closures this month, we have a tight turnaround time and need your help:

Deadlines

  • Monthly Leave Reports: Submit & approve by Wednesday, November 14. 
  • Hourly Time Sheets: Submit & approve by 12:00pm (noon) on Friday, November 16th.

Do you approve timesheets? As soon as work for the pay period has been completed, encourage employees to submit their time. Time can be approved in Banweb when submitted.

Holiday Time

Full-time employees should report Holiday time for Monday, November 12th in observance of Veterans Day.

Timesheet Labs

Need Help? We have 2 labs to assist employees and supervisors. Come with your questions or just come to get away from your office and leave with your employees all approved! Lab times are in the Market Center Building on the 3rd floor in the Mt. Jefferson Computer Lab.

  • Employee Timesheet/Leave Lab: November 8, 9:30am – 11:00am
  • Supervisor Timesheet/Leave Approval Lab: November 16, 3:00pm - 4:30pm

Late submission or late approval of pay-related documents may delay November pay. Thank you for your help!

In recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the Office of Global Diversity and Inclusion, Disability Resource Center, and the Accessibility Committee are proud to host PSU's inaugural *Disability as Diversity Month*.

2017 & 2018 Tax Information & Resources: Due to the tax law changes enacted in December of 2017, your individual tax situation may have changed. Information about this as well as W-2s, W-4s, 1042-S, NRA Tax packets and ACA form 1095-C can be found at www.pdx.edu/hr/2017-2018-tax-information-resources. The IRS suggests taking time to complete a "Paycheck Checkup" to help inform and allow you to make changes if you need. For more information, check out the News Release page at the IRS website.

The University has recently notified Un/Un employees of position classifications in alignment with the Classification and Compensation Study of Academic Professionals and Unclassified/Unranked staff positions. To learn more about the study and to stay up-to-date please visit the project page for the compensation study. Un/Un appeals must be received by HR no later than 5pm on Monday 10/8/2018.

It's time for Flu Shots! The Public Employees Benefit Board (PEBB) is offering worksite flu shot clinics free of charge to PSU PEBB-covered faculty and staff, as well as their PEBB-covered dependent/s (age 9 and up). Any PSU employee or their dependent/s not covered by a PEBB insurance plan can pay $30 (cash, check, or card) at the clinic to receive a flu shot.

The 2018 PSU Flu Clinics will be: 

  • Friday, September 28, 8:30am to 3:30pm, Smith Union 338 
  • Thursday, October 18, 8:30am to 3:30pm, Smith Union 338 
  • Monday, November 5, 8:30am to 3:30pm, Smith Union 338

IRS Media Advisory

With the new 2018 tax changes, the IRS is urging everyone to check your withholding now to avoid surprises at tax time. They suggest taking time to complete a "Paycheck Checkup" to help inform and allow you to make changes if you need before the end of the year. Human Resources would like to offer support for benefit eligible employees and faculty who may have been impacted by the incident that happened near SW 6th Ave. and SW Montgomery St. on the PSU campus.  

Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers crisis counseling and up to three counseling sessions face-to-face, over the phone or online. More information on available services can be found at the EAP website here. They can also be reached by calling 503-639-3009.

February 20th: PSU will close at 1 pm for the remainder of the day. For information regarding time and leave reporting due to inclement weather, please refer to the University Closure Policy webpage. HRascals has also been canceled for February 21st and will be rescheduled to a later date.

Length of Service Award. On Tuesday, March 6, 2018, we will honor our faculty and staff who have reached a length of service milestone in 2017. The Length of Service Award Celebration and Reception will be held in the Smith Memorial Student Union Ballroom from 3:00 to 4:30 pm. The Benefits Section of our website has been updated! As part of an on-going website redesign project, you may notice that web pages across our site have revised content and/or a new look. The goal of the project is to evaluate the current state of the website and to redesign pages to make it easier for you to find what you need. Along with this, we are incorporating small changes that allow the website to be more accessible.

Supplemental Retirement Savings Plan Available to Oregon Public Universities Employees. In addition to your employer-funded PERS or ORP account, non-student employees may save additional amounts for retirement through the voluntary, tax-advantaged retirement savings plan, called the Oregon Public Universities Tax-Deferred Investment 403(b) Plan or “TDI”. 

Your EAP provider is reimbursing up to $15 for the cost of a ride in December. Cascade aims to deter individuals from driving impaired and encourages everyone to plan ahead before embarking on their holiday festivities.To ensure safety this holiday season Cascade is offering up to $15 towards the cost of a ride during the month of December. *limit one per household

We’re excited to extend a special holiday Adidas Employee Store invite with you and Portland State University, starting Wednesday 12/6. This invite is for all staff/faculty and students. Staff/faculty and other employees will need to show their school ID, students can show their Fall 2017 term schedule along with a photo ID to access the employee store. Friends and family are invited as well, they would just need to accompany the employee/student.

This year’s Oregon Employees’ Charitable Fund Drive is underway at PSU! In 2016, state workers raised over $878,000 for hundreds of charities in Oregon. Between now and November 30, faculty and staff can make a pledge online. Log in using your PSU ID number as your username. If you are logging in for the first time, the password is your first and last name as one word, all capitals (example: JOESMITH). SEIU Vacation Cashout: Annual notification of SEIU benefit to cash out vacation. Forms due to HR in December payout will be included in paychecks, January 2018.
