PSU Accounting students are trading textbooks for boardrooms. This year, an elite group of 12 freshman and sophomore business majors from The School of Business earned the prestigious opportunity to attend Deloitte’s Future Accounting Leaders Summit (FALS), an invitation-only event held at the stunning Deloitte University campus in Dallas, Texas.
Tapped for Talent: Representing PSU on a National Stage
The selection highlights the strong relationship between PSU and Deloitte, one of the world’s "Big Four" professional services firms, which regularly recruits the university’s top talent for highly coveted audit and tax positions.
Accompanied by dedicated Accounting Instructors Madelyn Parsons and Sarah Engle, the students spent multiple days immersed in the world of professional services. The summit was specifically designed to give the next generation of accounting professionals a competitive edge, moving them beyond theory and into the heart of the industry.
From Simulation to Success: A Glimpse into the Future
The multi-day event was packed with experiences that emphasized leadership, problem-solving, and professional exposure. Attendees heard from inspiring keynote speakers, including Rashaun Williams, and participated in various sessions led by high-level Deloitte professionals.
PSU students weren't just observing—they were actively engaging. They took part in a dynamic business simulation, tested their entrepreneurial spirit in a Shark Tank-style pitch competition, and leveraged invaluable networking time with peers from top universities across the country. The goal: to connect the dots between an accounting degree and a thriving career in consulting and finance.
Impact Beyond the Numbers
The experience proved transformative, redefining what it means to be an accounting major. “Attending Deloitte’s Future Accounting Leaders Summit taught me so much about how accounting connects to real business decisions," one PSU accounting student shared. “I got hands-on experience... working in teams to solve business challenges. Overall, the summit strengthened my teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills while giving me a better idea of what a future in accounting can look like.”
For many, the biggest revelation was the profession's expansive purpose. “Accounting is not just about the numbers. It has an impact on everyone, and I want to be a part of that impact,” another PSU student noted, illustrating a fresh perspective that extends far beyond the general ledger.
The summit didn't just provide skills; it instilled confidence and ambition. Another student left the event feeling empowered, stating simply: “It made me believe that I can do anything if I am hungry enough.”
By participating in this premier event at Deloitte University, these PSU Accounting students have already taken a significant step toward defining their careers, demonstrating leadership, and proudly representing The School of Business on a national stage.
