Online programs in higher education became vital in 2020, but flexibility and accessibility is still just as important as students navigate the balance between their education, work and life. With that balance in mind, U.S. News and World Report announced its 2023 rankings for the Best Online Programs. Portland State University’s Undergraduate Business program ranked in the top 13% nationwide at 24 out of 214 programs.
“This is validation that we can keep the experiential and innovative nature of our program as we offer flexibility to our students, which really fits into our goal of increasing access to an outstanding business degree,” said Jacob Suher, associate dean of Undergraduate Programs in the School of Business.
U.S. News evaluated online programs in four areas to develop its 2023 rankings: student engagement, services and technology, faculty training and peer assessment.
“We’re extremely proud to be able to build on our vision to redefine business and transform lives in new ways that make our courses more accessible to our students,” Suher added. “This success wouldn’t be possible without the faculty and staff in the undergraduate program and our online business education team that are working hard to provide flexibility to students for our award-winning courses. It’s really a difference-maker for our students.”
Portland State is also known historically as a veteran-serving institution — it’s why the university was founded in 1946. For the first time, PSU’s graduate business program has ranked on the U.S. News and World Report’s list for Veterans. This ranking considers programs based on how veterans and active-duty service members are able to gain the most from distance education while maintaining affordability.
In addition, two graduate programs at Portland State also ranked the best in the Pacific Northwest. PSU’s graduate business program ranked 73 nationwide out of 211, and PSU’s graduate program in education ranked 82 out of 329.
