Learning Goals & Objectives
LG1: Teamwork and Collaboration
MSRE graduates will demonstrate effective teamwork competencies, supported by high levels of collaboration, emotional intelligence, strong relationship building skills, and the ability to effectively solve a task.
Learning Objectives:
- Collaboration and Emotional Intelligence: Students will effectively collaborate on a task and display emotional intelligence, social and listening skills.
- Balance between Task and Interpersonal Relationships: Students are able to find a balance between accomplishing a task and building interpersonal relationships with team-members.
- Organizing and Planning: Students follow an agreed upon plan to keep the team focused and making progress to complete the task while providing enough room to address issues and concerns.
LG2: Critical Thinking and Quantitative Analysis
MSRE graduates will critically evaluate real estate problems and opportunities, analyze those problems with appropriate data analysis techniques, as well as prescribe and defend subsequent recommendations.
Learning Objectives:
- Problem Identification: Students will identify and evaluate a real estate problem/opportunity from multiple perspectives.
- Research Techniques and Data Analysis: Students will select and employ appropriate quantitative data analytic techniques and tools to conduct real estate-specific analyses with relevant quantitative data.
- Solution Evaluation and Recommendation: Students will select and defend a chosen recommendation that is consistent with the evaluation.
LG3: Real Estate Financial Acumen
MSRE graduates will be able to apply the techniques, tools and strategies required for performing complex financial analysis aimed at helping commercial real estate decision-makers.
Learning Objectives:
- Financial Analysis: Students will correctly apply analytical techniques, use efficient formulas and have a strong spreadsheet hygiene.
- Analytical Method: Students will present and motivate all assumptions used for the financial analysis.
- Risk Analysis and Robustness: Students will identify relevant risks, conduct analyses to assess the robustness of their results and incorporate those results in their decision-making.
- Interpretation: Students will interpret the results of their analysis to make meaningful managerial recommendations for commercial real estate decision-makers.
LG4: Communication
MSRE graduates will effectively communicate complex information with a variety of commercial real estate stakeholders to increase knowledge and achieve objectives.
Learning Objectives:
- Consideration of context, purpose, and audience: Students will demonstrate a thorough consideration of context, purpose and audience in the context of commercial real estate.
- Delivery of message: Students will present a central message in a clear, concise, and convincing manner. The method of delivery supports the message.
- Articulation of quantitative information: Students will skillfully articulate quantitative information in a way that allows it to be understood by all key stakeholders.
- Reader-friendliness: Students will demonstrate a consistent use of credible, relevant real estate, financial and/or economic sources that supports the message or credibility of the communicator.
