Allen Thayer is the Professional Development Specialist on the Career Management Team within Graduate Business Programs where he supports candidates in career exploration and preparation. Previously, Allen served as an independent social impact consultant working with Social Venture Partners and Northwest Social Venture Fund. Prior to that, Allen spent five years working with Stanford's Graduate School of Business Center for Social Innovation as their Associate Director and lead on career services. Allen has experience in public, private and hybrid sectors and earned his Masters of International Affairs from Columbia University.
Born and raised in Portland, Allen returned to the Pacific Northwest in 2014 after living, working and studying in Washington, D.C., Indonesia, New York, Brazil and San Francisco. Outside of his PSU responsibilities, Allen wrangles and rears two boys and hosts a weekly radio show on KMHD 89.1 FM called the "The Brazilian Beat", Saturdays 9-11am.
