Staff Spotlight: Cassidy Moyer

Cassidy Moyer

Here at Campus Rec, we love how so many of our student staff are passionate about helping
others and really care about making the world a better place. Cassidy Moyer is no exception to
this. Cassidy consistently goes above and beyond, both in and outside of work, to help make
everyone feel welcome and add a little extra happiness into the world.

This is Cassidy’s second year working in the Outdoor program, more specifically at the Outdoor
Program Equipment Center, where she provides patrons with information about upcoming trips,
gear rentals, and anything else they may need. “I love that I have the opportunity to help people
get outdoors who don’t have much experience or who wouldn’t normally have the means to do
so,” she explains.

Cassidy also really appreciates the skills she’s developed working here that she’ll be able to
utilize in her future career. “I’ve learned a lot about being flexible and adaptable, and delegating
things I need help with to my coworkers,” she says. This leadership experience will serve Cassidy
well as she graduates next spring and enters the field of community development, where she
hopes to travel abroad to potentially do volunteer work or attend graduate school.

As we know, Cassidy loves to work with people and always goes the extra mile to bring folks
together and ensure everyone feels safe and welcome. She wants to prioritize these same goals
as she hopes to someday hold an advocacy role where she could work on things like community
outreach and placemaking projects. As a matter of fact, Cassidy got to experience one of these
placemaking projects in real life as she helped work on a public art installation in Spain for her
senior capstone project. How cool is that?!

While she was there, Cassidy kept a journal that she gave to the people there to write anything
they wanted. She explains that some people wrote short phrases or doodles while others took
the opportunity to share their personal stories and pieces of advice. “It really showed the
humanity in people,” she said. “I will cherish that journal forever.”

Clearly, Cassidy’s creative and friendly nature works great for her job helping patrons, but her
ability to meet people at such a personal level is a unique gift that will serve not only herself,
but everyone around her. We really appreciate Cassidy for embodying our values of community
and inclusion in every step of her work, her diligence does not go unnoticed! Make sure to say
hi to Cassidy and tell her she’s awesome next time you stop by the ODP. 😄
