Build a pathway to a language degree
We offer undergraduate majors in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish, as well as minors in American Sign Language (ASL), Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Modern Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Persian, Russian, Spanish, Classical Studies, and a Certificate of Advanced Proficiency in Russian and Certificate in Teaching Japanese as a Second Language.
Pathway Advising
For information on your general undergraduate requirements, connect with advisors in Advising and Career Services.
Students majoring in a world language (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Russian or Spanish) are part of the Language, Culture, and Meaning Pathway. Students in this pathway are assigned to an advisor based on the last 2 digits of their PSU ID number.

Language Advising
If you are majoring or minoring in a world language, complete the WLL Advisor Request Form for WLL Majors and Minors to request an advisor for your language. Once you submit this form, you will be matched with a language advisor and notified via email from world@pdx.edu.

Take Placement Test
If you have previously taken French, German or Spanish, we recommend you take the WebCAPE test, a computer-administered reading, vocabulary and grammar test, to help determine your level of language proficiency.
