Understanding Communities in Paris
What can Paris teach us about communities, cities, and social change?
Join us for an immersive summer program in Paris, France, where the city becomes your classroom. Explore neighborhoods across Paris while examining how identity, belonging, development, displacement, diversity, and social justice shape urban communities.
Through walking tours, site visits, field activities, and hands-on projects, you’ll study Paris through the lenses of sociology, anthropology, geography, history, and urban planning. Visit local markets, parks, housing developments, bike lanes, and iconic landmarks while developing a deeper understanding of how cities function and communities evolve.
All majors are welcome! This program is especially useful for students interested in urban studies, community development, transportation, social justice, and understanding diverse communities.
