Introduction to Mountaineering

Looking to explore higher into the mountains? Come build your experience as a budding alpine climber! Learn important skills like how to travel on a rope team, self-arrest, gear selection, and terrain management. We will ascend approximately 3 miles and gain 1000 feet up the Palmer Glacier on Mt. Hood. For this trip a moderate fitness base and comfort on steeper snow is necessary.

Difficulty Level

Moderate: Moderate physical activity and/or more challenging terrain; some previous experience is helpful, but not required.

Registration Deadline & Pre-Trip Meeting: Sign up in person at the Outdoor Program office located at 505 SW Harrison Street by April 19 at 5 pm.
