Dr. Walton received his Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

His research interests include Francophone authors of West Africa and the Caribbean, and in particular their critique of colonial ideology and the post-colonial situation. He has secondary research interests in poetry, 19th-century French literature, and language pedagogy. His publications include articles on Paul Eluard and on Baudelaire and Aimé Césaire. He has received grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the US Department of Education for the incorporation of technology in the language curriculum at PSU. He teaches courses in French language and literature.
