Staff Spotlight: Henry Senters

Henry Senters

If you know Henry and have gotten to work with him, you’re one of the lucky few. Henry works in the Admin Suite for Chiki and supports all administrative work such as accounting and payroll, human resource reporting, and Kronos reports.  Even though his work touches all of our lives, he doesn’t often get a chance to work with a lot of folks in his main role. That’s why in the past year or so, Henry has pursued additional opportunities outside his role so he can work with different people and explore more about the wide world of Campus Rec.

Henry started out as a freshman in the FLASH FY22 cohort working as an Office Assistant.  He picked up the job quickly and by the end of the year was promoted to the Lead position, then the following year to the Student Coordinator role.  To expand his horizons, he also worked the Big Scrub last year, then applied for and began on the Staff Recognition Pod.  At the end of last year, Henry volunteered to be on the Director Search Committee through which he reviewed applicant materials, participated in candidate screening interviews and finalist interviews.  Henry reflects that all of these experiences have given him a “higher level perspective and understanding of the organization” that he wouldn’t have had otherwise.

As an architecture major with a minor in sustainable urban development, Henry has a busy schedule.  He expects to graduate in 2025 and while he’s still exploring many options, right now he’s most intrigued with commercial and educational building design. Henry has really big things (and big buildings) in store for his future!

Because Henry grew up in Portland and didn’t have to go very far away for college, he’s been taking every opportunity during college to travel.  Through the Honors College, Henry has completed study abroad courses in London and another in Kenya.  His Kenya trip was focused on Environmental Conservation so they traveled through different ecological environments from the savannah to the rainforests.  He has also traveled to Mexico City with the School of Architecture to learn more about their history and architecture. He spent most of the time there with other students walking around the city, learning to navigate and exploring, but the highlight of this trip was definitely the food, according to Henry.

In what little spare time he has, you might catch Henry biking around town or reading, two of his favorite pastimes. Don’t be afraid to say hi next time you see him, thank you Henry for all your hard work and commitment to helping everyone here at Campus Rec!
