    Can I get conditional admission?

Students who are academically admissible to PSU but do not yet have a passing TOEFL/IELTS/PTE will be offered admission with an ESL restriction and begin classes in the Intensive English Language Program.  Upon successful completion of that program the student then moves directly into their degree classes.

Do I need to submit my TOEFL or IELTS scores for admission?

No. Students who meet the academic requirements for admission, but do not have passing TOEFL or IELTS scores, will be admitted with an ESL restriction and begin classes in our Pathway Program.  Upon successful completion of the Pathway program they will then move into their degree classes.

I received an overall score of 6.0 on IELTS, but my writing subscore is below 6.0. Do I still have to take ESL classes?

Yes. PSU looks at the overall score, plus the reading and the writing subcores.  All three scores must be 6.0 or higher to go directly into academic classes.

How can I get a scholarship?

PSU will automatically review all newly admitted international undergraduate students for up to $8000 in annual scholarship with the International Achievement Scholarship.  The award is merit-based, and the amount awarded depends on overall gpa at the time of admission.

I went to university in my home country but I do not want transfer any credits from that school. Am I still required to submit the transcript?

Yes.  Applicants must disclose on the application for admission all colleges/universities previously attended and provide transcripts from each school.

I have a copy of my transcript, but it’s not in English. Do I need to have it translated?

Yes. PSU requires that all transcripts be provided in the original language and a certified English translation.

I had my transcripts evaluated by WES. Can I submit that instead of the actual transcript?

No. PSU does not accept outside evaluations of transcripts. Please provide the actual, complete transcript from the school itself.

I have my original transcript. Is that considered official?

No. In the U.S. original and official are two different things. Official means that the issuing institution (high school, college, university, testing body) has prepared the transcript and placed it in their  letterhead envelope, sealing the envelope and placing the school stamp over the sealed envelope flap.  It must arrive at PSU still sealed.

    How will my credits transfer?

Once you have been admitted to PSU and provided your official college/university transcripts, we will prepare a course-by-course transfer credit evaluation.  PSU cannot provide a transfer evaluation prior to admission or with unofficial transcripts.

My country doesn’t use gpa. How do I know what my gpa is?

Many countries use grading systems that are very different from the US 4.0 grading scale.  When you apply for admission to PSU, please submit your transcripts.  We will do a full evaluation and convert the grading system into the U.S. 4.0 grading scale. You do not have to do the conversion yourself.

Do I have to submit my sponsorship letter at the time I apply for admission?

No.  PSU can make an admission decision without any financial documentation, however we cannot issue an I-20 until we receive evidence of sufficient finances for your first year of study.

I attended a British curriculum high school. How do I know if I’m admissible?

Students who have completed 5 passing “O” levels are admissible to PSU as a freshman. Students who have completed “A” or “AS” levels are eligible to receive college transfer credits.  Exam results must be provided from Edexcel or Cambridge.

Do I need to take SAT or ACT?

No. PSU does not require international applicants to provide either SAT or ACT scores. The admission decision is based on overall gpa.
