- UPA Elective: Complete 5 upper division electives and one elective that can be either upper or lower division. Choose any course with these prefixes: CCJ, EC, INTL, PA, PS, USP or PHE.
- UPA Upper Division Elective: Complete 5 upper division electives and one elective that can be either upper or lower division. Choose any course with these prefixes: CCJ, EC, INTL, PA, PS, USP or PHE.
- UPA Required Course: Required UPA courses are listed in the PSU 2024-2025 Bulletin. Required courses chosen must represent at least 2 of the 7 UPA academic disciplines (USP, PA, PS, INTL, CCJ, EC, and PHE).
- Sophomore Inquiry or Honors: For University Studies, two Sophomore Inquiry courses are required, but for Honors, three Sophomore courses are required.
- Race and Ethnic Studies Requirement: Two courses required, each minimum 3 credits: one course must focus on the U.S. experience; the second course must center the experiences of groups under European and U.S. colonialism and imperialism beyond the United States. One must be within the School of Gender, Race and Nations or be cross-listed with one of the SGRN units: Black Studies (BST), Chicanx/Latinx Studies (CHLA), Indigenous Nations Studies (NAS), or Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies (WS). If a class is overlapped with another requirement then this can be replaced with an elective.
- UPA Research Skills: Complete one pre-identified and approved research methods, statistics, or data analysis course from any of the participating academic units.
- General Elective: Depending on your UPA Required course choices, this may need to be an Upper Division course (62 credits total).
- You may need to add additional general elective credits to your plan to reach 180 total credits.
