Spring Term Update

A message from Lis Charman, Director of the School of Art + Design

Lis Charman

Warmer weather is approaching, trees are beginning to bud, and more vaccines are becoming available to more people, all bringing a renewed sense of hope and relief. I know that COVID-19 upended your lives and disrupted your education, but together we have persevered.

The School of Art + Design will remain fully remote until Fall term when all of PSU will reopen. As another term of remote learning begins, I want to take a moment to reach out to you with updates about this coming Spring.

We have been working hard to make the place we love a more welcoming and inclusive place for all. As part of that work we are hosting an Anti-Racist Art School Colloquium on the 14th, 15th, and 16th of April. Led by Assistant Professor Ralph Pugay and Social Practice MFA alumnae Roshani Thakore, this event will feature presentations, discussions, workshops, and panels featuring (and for!) A+D students, faculty, staff, and guests from art schools around the country. All are welcome to participate and we hope you will join us.

While most of our departmental facilities are closed, our Mac Lab’s printing services (FMH 250, across from the Mac Lab) is open and ready to print for you. There are computer labs in the library and in the basement of FMH that are open for student use.

We continue to offer numerous ways to enrich your experience and engage with the School of Art + Design. Here are just some of our upcoming events and exhibitions. All are free and all are welcome to participate.
