Yamile was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She is a first-generation student who received her degree in Political Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 2018. Shortly after graduation, she began working with high school students at the Boys and Girls Club within the College Bound program. Through interactions with students and families, Yamile discovered her passion for achieving educational equity and students’ success in higher education. These experiences led Yamile to pursue and earn a Master of Education degree in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs at the University of Southern California. While at USC, she helped high school students from the local community with college applications, and worked with non-traditional students at Los Angeles City College. Yamile is excited to be part of the PSU team and work with students and families to cultivate a college-going culture and make higher education accessible. Outside of work, she enjoys going on walks, trying new cooking recipes, watching YouTube videos, and picking up a book to read once in a blue moon.
