Please briefly introduce yourself and where you are from.
My name is Kun. I was born and raised in Cambodia.
Why Portland and why PSU?
After wrapping up my associate degree, Portland State caught my eye mainly because of its solid business school and all the major options. I knew I wanted to go into business, but I couldn't pick a specific path at first. PSU gave me the room to explore my options, and I eventually pursued Supply Chain and Logistics Management.
Could you briefly describe your professional and/or educational journey after graduating from PSU? What are you doing currently?
After my junior year, I landed a supply chain internship at WestRock, thanks to a huge assist from the School of Business Career Center (shoutout to them!). That experience opened the door to an internship at Brooks Running in Seattle right after graduation, which turned into a full-time offer. Today, I'm still at Brooks working as a Supply Chain analyst.
How did your time at PSU prepare you for your career or further education after graduation?
The Supply Chain program at PSU played a big role in getting my career off the ground. The faculty and staff run a top-notch program, using case studies, guest speakers, and company visits to give us real practical experience. One highlight was visiting Keen Footwear to tour their operations and connect with alumni on their team. Getting that first-hand perspective on the footwear industry was invaluable.
What is your favorite memory of your time at PSU?
My absolute favorite memory from PSU was working as a Student Ambassador. That job will always mean a lot to me because it's where I made friends and really grew as a person. I went from being nervous to feeling completely comfortable speaking in public while leading campus tours and helping plan orientation events. Plus, getting to welcome both local and international students and help them settle into campus life was easily one of the most rewarding parts of my college experience.
