At Portland State University, International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) students who earn 30 or more diploma points upon graduation are guaranteed the following benefits (available for international applicants only):
- Guaranteed Direct Admission: If you meet PSU's admission requirements you will be admitted. No letters of recommendation, no personal statement, no mystery.
- $10,000 annual merit scholarship per year for four years: This brings your total cost of attendance down making PSU one of the most affordable large public research universities on the west coast of the United States.
- One year of advanced university credit and "sophomore" status: This commitment means you save time, cutting more than one academic year (45 credits) from your degree journey. Saved time also means saved money; earn your degree faster and you'll spend less money.
- Waiver of standardized English proficiency test scores: We waive all IB diploma students who earn 30 or more points from PSU's required English language proficiency requirements. You are granted direct access to PSU classes without submission of English proficiency exams.
- Direct admission to the Honors College: International students who earn at least 30 IB diploma points have demonstrated the advanced writing skills that are typically developed within the first year of the Honors College. Since you have navigated the academic rigor of the subject groups and the Diploma Program core, we will directly admit you to the Honors College.
PSU seeks to attract talented and well-qualified students who have found academic success within the rigorous IB diploma curriculum and can leverage that achievement to their university journey at PSU.
This program is available for international applicants only. U.S. citizens and permanent residents have access to numerous alternative financial aid offerings.
