Apply for Financial Aid

To get Financial Aid, you must submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Once it’s reviewed, your information will be shared with the schools you’ve listed on your application and those schools will create a financial aid offer for you that can include grants or scholarships (free money that you don’t have to pay back) and/or low-interest federal loans (money that you pay back with interest). This is all money that can be used to pay for tuition, fees, books & supplies, housing and food, and personal expenses.

Filling out the FAFSA is FREE and has many benefits. Fill it out as soon as it’s available so you get as much free money or low-interest student loans as possible. The FAFSA opens in the fall.

Apply for Scholarships

Millions of dollars in scholarships are available to incoming students through the PSU Scholarship Universe. Scholarships are funds you receive usually based on academic merit (GPA or test scores). You do not have to repay these funds. These typically require another application in addition to the FAFSA.

FAFSA Myths Busted

We sometimes find that students don’t fill out the FAFSA because they think they’re not eligible, won’t get any financial aid, that it’s too complicated, or that it only impacts federal aid. We’ve busted these myths and more on the blog.
