Additional Map Notes:
- MUS 191 or Music Elective, MUS 192 or Music Elective, MUS 193 or Music Elective, and MUS 046: Students must pass piano proficiency or take MUS 191/192/193. The piano sequence will count toward music electives. If student is already proficient on piano and passes test prior to taking MUS 191, 192 & 193, change to 6 credits of music electives towards major.
- Sophomore Inquiry or Honors: For University Studies, two Sophomore Inquiry courses are required, but for Honors, three Sophomore courses are required.
- Race and Ethnic Studies Requirement: Two courses required, each minimum 3 credits: one course must focus on the U.S. experience; the second course must center the experiences of groups under European and U.S. colonialism and imperialism beyond the United States. One must be within the School of Gender, Race and Nations or be cross-listed with one of the SGRN units: Black Studies (BST), Chicanx/Latinx Studies (CHLA), Indigenous Nations Studies (NAS), or Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies (WS). If you choose a RESR course that can be applied towards another requirement, take an elective here instead.
- IT 103/FR 103/GER 103: Language proficiency in two of the following through 103 - Italian, French or German. Expected proficiency pre-req in 101 & 102 prior to 103. If pre-requisites are not met, student should take 101 in Fall and 102 in Winter to prepare for 103 in Spring.
- World Music Course: Choose from MUS 374U, 375U, 377U or 378.
- MUS 470 or MUS 482: BM MUVC degree seekers can opt to take either MUS 470–Topics in Music History or MUS 482–Topics in the Music of the African Diaspora.
- You may need to add additional general elective credits to your plan to reach 180 total credits.
