This program celebrates English poetry through song, with a specific focus on female composers and feminine themes. The richness and complexity of Britten’s art song in the mid-20th century is matched by his lesser-known contemporaries Madeline Dring and Rebecca Clarke. American poet Edna St. Vincent Millay continues to inspire scores of composers to set her beautifully lyric words to music. The duo of Agnes Vojtko and Chuck Dillard reunite after more than a decade to bring this music and poetry to the recital stage.
