The Music @ Midday Concert Series is a free weekly opportunity to experience the sounds of the PSU School of Music & Theater. Join us on Fridays during fall, winter, and spring terms for a diverse program of concerts featuring students, faculty, and special guests. 

The general public is welcome in Lincoln Hall to watch the series live. You'll also be able to watch each concert on PSU's YouTube channel with the links below, but students enrolled in MUS188 are required to attend in person.

October 2 - Viking Days - Music Faculty Showcase

Join us for the first concert of the Music @ Midday series this year, featuring renowned faculty from the School of Music & Theater.

October 9 - In Her Own Words: Women-centered poetry and music

Mezzo soprano Agi Vojtkó and pianist Chuck Dillard celebrate women's voices -- as composers, poets, and mothers singing for children. Alongside lullabies by Benjamin Britten, you will also hear music by Rebecca Clarke, Madeleine Dring, Margaret Bonds, and Leslie Adams, plus poetry by Edna St. Vincent Millay.

October 16 - Joe Manis Quartet

Enjoy a concert by Joe Manis on tenor saxophone, John Storie on guitar, Garrett Baxter on bass and Charlie Doggett on drums.

October 23 - Three Clarinets & Piano Concert

Experience a vibrant selection of music for clarinet and piano, including works by Franz Cibulka in celebration of his anniversary year. This concert features clarinetists Barbara Heilmair, Wonkak Kim and Gregory Barrett, with Grace Choi on piano.

October 30 - Kerry Politzer's Bossa PDX

Led by Portland State jazz piano instructor Kerry Politzer since 2017, Bossa PDX is Portland's classic bossa nova and Brazilian jazz ensemble. The group also includes Professor George Colligan on drums as well as PSU alumni Ben Graves (guitar) and Robert Rodriguez (bass).

November 6 - Fall 2026 Steinway Piano Series Residency Starring Chad R. Bowles

Described by Gramophone as "a superb, confident technician and an intelligent stylist, who doesn’t have to prove anything," guest pianist Chad R. Bowles performs a program by Schubert, Beethoven and Medtner.

November 13 - The PSU Chamber Choir

The Portland State University Chamber Choir, described by Classics Today as “amongst the finest choirs in the world,” will perform at the Music @ Midday series. Join us for 50 minutes of our favorite selections, including Classical, Pop and World Music.
