The Music @ Midday Concert Series is a free weekly opportunity to experience the sounds of the PSU School of Music & Theater. Join us on Fridays during fall, winter, and spring terms for a diverse program of concerts featuring students, faculty, and special guests. 

The general public is welcome in Lincoln Hall to watch the series live. You'll also be able to watch each concert on PSU's YouTube channel with the links below, but students enrolled in MUS188 are required to attend in person.

January 16 - Currents of Change

Be the first to hear excerpts of Caroline Louise Miller's new opera Deep Water. A concert exploring climate change through opera and song.

January 23 - On the Horizon: New Trombone Works from Asian Composers

Featuring newly written works for trombone and piano by living Asian composers—including Arthur Wang, Maishuo Luo, Chen Yi and Megumi Kanda—performed by PSU music faculty Li Kuang (trombone) and Julia Lee (piano).

January 30 - Winds and Reeds

Experience the beauty, color and character of the woodwinds in one memorable performance. Featuring faculty and advanced students, this concert highlights the artistry and expressive range of instruments across the woodwind family, from no reed to single reed to double reed.

February 13 - Rose City Trio

The Rose City Trio (Sarah Kwak, Nancy Ives and Susan Chan) performs works by Beethoven, John Williams and Leyou Wang.

February 20 - Waves of Sounds: Power and Sensitivity

The Portland State Trombone Ensemble performs a variety of styles written or arranged for trombone ensemble, showcasing both the power and the sensitivity of the ensemble as an art form.

February 27 - The Art of English Song

This program celebrates English poetry through song, with a specific focus on female composers and feminine themes. The duo of Agnes Vojtko and Chuck Dillard reunite after more than a decade to bring this music and poetry to the recital stage.

March 13 - PSU's Sonic Arts & Music Production Laptop Ensemble (SAMPLE) Winter Concert

PSU’s Sonic Arts Music Production Laptop Ensemble (SAMPLE) presents an immersive concert featuring original works that push the boundaries of digital creativity with inventive computer-mediated instruments, cutting-edge sound-synthesis programming and interactive live performance.
