The Music @ Midday Concert Series is a weekly opportunity to experience the sounds of the PSU School of Music & Theater. Join us on Fridays during fall, winter, and spring terms for a diverse program of concerts featuring students, faculty, and special guests. 

The general public is welcome in Lincoln Hall to watch the series live. You'll also be able to watch each concert on PSU's YouTube channel with the links below, but students enrolled in MUS188 are required to attend in person.

October 3 - Music Faculty Showcase

The inaugural concert in our new Music @ Midday series, featuring renowned faculty from the School of Music & Theater. Experience jazz, classical, electro-acoustic, and more, performed by some of the best musicians this region has to offer, right on our own campus! Hear innovative styles and beloved classics.

October 10 - Echoes of Spain: Music for Violin and Piano

Inspired by violinist Tomás Cotik’s Fulbright Scholar year in Spain, this program explores the rich and diverse sound world of Spanish music for violin and piano. From virtuosic showpieces to lyrical miniatures, it features works by Pablo de Sarasate, Enrique Granados, Isaac Albéniz, and Manuel de Falla.

October 17 - Poetic Resonances

Guest pianist Ronaldo Rolim performs works by Scriabin, Ravel, Chopin, Price and de Falla, a program that beautifully balances his “consummate elegance” (New York Concert Review) with an energetic dynamism and fire.

October 24 - George Colligan Featuring Zyanna

George Colligan presents his jazz quartet, which features vocalist Zyanna Melada. The group will perform original music by Colligan and Melada, who have been collaborating in Portland for several years. Also featured in the concert are Robert Rodriguez on bass and Micah Hummel on drums.

October 31 - Improvisation

November 7 - The PSU Chamber Choir

The Portland State University Chamber Choir begins its 50th Anniversary Season with a performance at the Music at Midday series at PSU. Join us for 50 minutes of our favorite selections, including Classical, Pop, and World Music.

November 14 - Horizons: Dave Eggar, Martin Zarzar & Mario Díaz:

Three acclaimed artists meet at the intersection of genres and cultural traditions to create an experience of boundary-defying music. From soulful cello lines and Latin rhythms to poetic songs and textured guitar soundscapes, the program invites audiences into moments where diverse journeys converge

November 21 - European and Mexican Piano Repertoire with guest Melissa Terrall

Classical pianist and PSU alumna Melissa Espíndola Terrall returns to perform a selection of standards and hidden gems from the European and Mexican repertoire. Interspersed with performances, Melissa will conduct a Q&A with the audience on topics ranging from music career, living abroad, and her time at PSU.

December 5 - Opera Workshop

PSU voice students perform scenes from opera as a part of their training in the class Opera Workshop.
