One of the fastest-growing ensembles at the School of Music is the Portland State University Band. The band emphasizes relationship-building among students and learning classic music repertoire. If you are interested in joining the University band as a music major, auditions are held in the fall. Non-music majors are also welcome to audition for the band.

University Band

The PSU University Band is our largest band, and is open to players of all abilities. This ensemble is a great option for non-performance majors to earn their large ensemble credits while performing with a fun and diverse group of musicians.

Wind Symphony

The PSU Wind Symphony is our advanced band ensemble, and requires a greater degree of independence and dedication from its members. Focused on an ambitious, adventurous repertoire, the Wind Symphony frequently collaborates with our Choirs and other ensembles within the School of Music & Theater.
