Music Undergrad Application Process

High school Juniors and Seniors, and college-level transfer students can arrange a visiting day at PSU School of Music & Theater to attend classes, sit in on a large ensemble, and meet and ask questions of PSU music students and faculty. Contact the Area Coordinator for the music area you are interested in.

Our rolling admissions means students can apply for admission to the School of Music & Theater at any time in the year prior to the first day of classes. Auditions are part of the admission process.

Students must apply to both the School of Music & Theater and Portland State University at large.

Admission and scholarships are awarded based on auditions. Auditions are available all year. When you apply, you'll be prompted to upload a recording of yourself performing, or you can request an in-person audition.
