Trash Disposal, by Building

Blumel: Trash chutes are available on every residential floor (room ending in 17). 

Broadway: Trash chutes are located on every residential floor adjacent to either the Laundry Room (odd floors) or the Recycling Room (even floors) in the room ending in 66. Residents should take their oversized trash and recycling to the Trash Corral outside of Ondine (off of SW College Street).

Ondine:  The Trash Corral is located at the edge of the parking lot off of SW College Street.

St. Helens: Valet Trash pick-up is twice a week.

Stephen Epler: Valet Trash pick-up is twice a week.

Large Trash Weeks

For residents of St. Helens, Stephen Epler, and Blumel, a large dumpster will be available on the SE corner of Blumel for any and all large trash items during the following dates. Dates are for the 26/27 Academic Year:

  • September 24 - 28
  • October 22 - 25
  • November 19 - 22
  • December 9 - 14
  • December 21 - January 4
  • January 28 - 31
  • February 25 - 28
  • March 17 - 29
  • April 29 - May 2
  • June 4 - 21

VALET TRASH

How it works:
You will be provided with a trash can, trash bag, and recycling bin which you will place outside your door during the designated pick-up days/times. You will be given a new trash bag after each trash pick-up.

Schedule:

  • Trash and Recycling will be collected on Mondays and Thursdays, excluding University Holidays.
  • Pick-up will occur between 8:00pm - 10:00pm.
  • Trash and Recycling may only be placed outside your door after 5:00pm on collection day.
  • Trash and Recycling bins must be removed from hallways by 9:00am the day following collection.

Important Details:

Trash:

  • Trash is limited to one bag, which must fit in the provided trash bin. The lid must close completely.
  • Trash bags must be tied in a knot, and should not be leaking or otherwise messy.
  • All pet waste, including litter, must be double bagged.
  • Any trash that does not fit within the provided bin must be taken to an outdoor dumpster. The nearest dumpster is located on SW 10th Ave.

Recycling:

  • Paper, plastic, and metal recycling (non-glass) must fit in the blue bin provided. It cannot be bagged in a plastic bag.
  • Large cardboard boxes will be collected only if they are flattened. Place the cardboard boxes behind the bin.
  • Recycling that cannot fit into the bin should not be left in the hallway and should be taken to an outdoor dumpster.
  • Glass: Glass recycling must be cleaned and taken to the glass receptacles in the laundry rooms.

You are responsible for cleaning your bins as needed. Missing or broken trash bins will cost $60 for a replacement. Missing or broken recycle bins cost $25 for a replacement. University Housing may choose to remove trash or recycling that doesn’t meet the parameters of this program, and may charge you for removal. Standard charges are $25 for a bag of trash and $250 for furniture.
