POSITION: Temporary/Summer
WAGE: $15.50/hr
LOCATION: Broadway Hall (1977 SW 6th Ave, Portland, OR)
HOURS: 30-40 hours per week, beginning July 27-September 16; scheduled hours will remain consistent; this position works Monday- Friday between the hours of 8:30am-5:00pm.
This position will complete the UHRL Special Project of removing furniture from triple rooms in Broadway Hall and transferring it to other on-campus residence halls. This position is supported by the Housing Maintenance Manager and the Assistant Director of Summer Housing and Conferences.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Utilize provided Personal Protective Equipment at all times while working
- Assemble and disassemble furniture using tools such as: rubber mallets and allen wrenches
- Work as a part of a team to complete daily assignments and maintain project timeline
- Lift and maneuver heavy furniture items with the assistance of appropriate moving equipment
- Audit furniture in residence hall rooms across campus
- Inspect furniture for proper installation and condition
- Resolve problems encountered in inspections, when necessary contact your supervisor
- Address minor maintenance issues when directed to do so by a supervisor
- Check in with supervisor at the beginning of each shift to receive daily assignments
- Complete all required safety training
- Attend all trainings and staff meetings
- Check and respond to texts and phone calls during shift immediately
- Maintain professional and positive communication with all staff, and team members
- Report all accidents or injuries to supervisors immediately
- Additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to work consistently during scheduled hours
- Must be able to lift up to 75lbs with the assistance of equipment
- Ability to interact well with people of diverse ages and backgrounds
- Self-motivated, accountable, ability to take initiative
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous furniture moving experience
- Driver’s License
