Student Success Mentoring

Sometimes it helps for students to talk with another person and work through some of the barriers they encounter. For the 2023-2024 academic year, we have two Student Engagement interns from the School of Social Work who will work DRC students on:

  • Understanding the nuances of higher education and disability.
  • Working on study skills, time management, note taking skills, etc.
  • Developing strategies to communicate with instructors and self-advocate.
  • Getting connected with on- and off-campus resources.
  • Mentoring gives students a consistent person to talk to and a safe place to discuss the intersection of disability and academic work.

To meet with an intern, schedule a meeting with one of them.

If you have questions or want to learn more about this service, you can contact the DRC at 503-725-4150 or drc@pdx.edu, or reach out to your Access Counselor & Consultant.
