This technology reads electronic documents out loud. People with many kinds of disabilities and experiences with reading can benefit from these tools.

DRC Resources

Kurzweil 3000

  • Kurzweil is a text-to-speech software program that will read your course materials out loud. It can convert image PDFs into accessible PDFs, allowing you to highlight and take notes on your documents as you read them in the program.
  • A free account is available to eligible students registered with the DRC. Kurzweil accounts are also available through the Academic Coaching Program.
  • For support, see our Kurzweil Guide, Kurzweil Academy's How-To Videos, or your personal Kurzweil 3000 account under the 'Help' tab.

Speechify

  • Speechify is a text-to-speech software program that will read your course materials out loud. It can convert image PDFs into accessible PDFs.
  • A free account is available to eligible students registered with the DRC.

This technology enlarges computer displays or printed material while maintaining clarity.

Screen Reading Technology

Screen reading technology reads everything that is displayed on a computer or mobile device screen out loud.
