Campus Rec provides a flexible fitness program that is especially convenient for Portland State students who want a simple way to keep healthy on their own schedule.
WITS Personal Trainer Class
This course will cover theoretical and hands-on practical material to prepare you to become a certified personal trainer. Topics include: anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, health screening, fitness assessment, program planning and progression, injury prevention, special populations, and much more. Certification exam fee is INCLUDED but cost of book is extra.

Trans* Affirming Fitness Group
Wednesdays 2:15 - 3:15 pm
Location : ASRC 440/441
The Trans* Affirming Fitness group is a space for trans*, genderqueer, and all body-positive people to come together and exercise in an environment that honors and supports individual identity. This is NOT a Group X class; the trainer on staff will NOT be providing structured workouts. Instead, all equipment in the room will be available for individual use by those who attend.
Women on Weights
M/W 9:00 - 10:00 am
Location : Weight Room
Women on Weights is designed to encourage more women to use the Weight Room. During this time a certified Personal Trainer will be on staff to provide guidance on basic workout principles, using different types of equipment, and strengthening different muscle groups. Participants can choose to participate in all of the trainer-lead “lessons” or not. The ultimate goal is to create a strong female presence in the weight room during this time to help decrease the intimidation factor through strength in numbers.
With over 100 pieces of equipment and staff ready to help you with anything. We even have instructional videos to help you set-up and learn to use some of our equipment.
With over 80 pieces of cardio equipment including treadmills, ellipticals, incline trainers, cycle bikes, rowing machines, and more are available during all operational hours.
INDOOR 1/11 MILE TRACK
The track is available during all operational hours.
Drop-in Group X Fitness classes are fun, challenging, appropriate for all fitness levels, and included in your membership at no additional charge. You are able to pick and choose from a variety of classes that are offered.
Certified personal trainers are available at about half the cost of other gyms. Buddy Sessions, Fitness Assessments, and Body Composition Tests are also available.
