FIRST YEAR EXPERIENCE
The First Year Experience (FYE) program is located in the Ondine and Broadway Buildings. All units are for double occupancy, with the exception of an extremely limited number of singles. A meal plan is required for all FYE residents and is included in the cost of the program. The Dining Hall for FYE residents is located in the Ondine, just across the street from Broadway. Resident Assistant and Learning Communities Assistants reside on the floors to help first year students and get to know one another, the university and the city. Educational and social programs are held regularly, and assistance is available to aid students in navigating the University System.
Broadway units: Studios with a private kitchenette (no oven) and bath. All utilities, plus phone, internet, and cable are included.
Ondine units: Studios with have a private bath on floors 3-6. Floors 7 and 8 consist of studio suites, with connecting bathrooms and kitchenettes shared by adjoining rooms. The kitchenette includes a small fridge, stove/oven and kitchen sink. GLOBAL
VILLAGE
It is the mission of the Global Village program to foster
the development of each student’s intercultural awareness, communication
skills, and academic success by encouraging discourse and shared experience among
a diverse community of peers. We recognize that the success of this mission
depends upon the commitment of each Global Village member to create, maintain
and contribute to a safe and thriving community through dialogue and actions.
Global Village is located on the top floor of Stephen Epler.
The rooms are furnished with a bed, dresser, desk and desk chair, equipped with
a four burner stove top, oven and mini fridge and have a private bath that they
share with their roommate. All utilities are included, including extended
cable, internet and a local telephone line.
Portland State's residence program helps new
students succeed in their first year of college. A successful first year of
school is essential in setting the tone for the rest of your college career.

First Year Experience (FYE) is designed to make things easier for new
students by building a support network of peers and providing a nurturing
environment with all the necessary resources, while Global Village broadens the
horizon of everyone involved with the program, in addition to providing a
support network of peers and supporting every residents academic career.
FYE residents are given opportunities
to interact and build friendships through social activities and experiences
such as shared dining.
