Who We Are

At the Institute for Sustainable Solutions (ISS), our mission is to match the passion and expertise of PSU faculty and students with the experience and needs of community groups, government agencies, and businesses to develop practical solutions for more equitable, livable, sustainable cities and regions.

Our Response to COVID-19

The Institute for Sustainable Solutions at Portland State University is committed to the pursuit of a sustainable and resilient city. Realizing this future city requires massive cultural and behavior change within our organizations and within all of us. In short form, the COVID crisis gave us direct exposure to some of the large-scale changes needed to build a sustainable and resilient city; it has also further exposed existing inequalities.
