This concert showcases vibrant and rare music for single-reed instruments, performed by Clarinet Professor Barbara Heilmair and Saxophone Professor Mark Pipes, alongside their colleagues Julia Lee, Juan Castaneda, Ricky Smith, and Amy Scurry.
Barbara Heilmair will present Romanze for Clarinet and Piano by Marie Elisabeth von Sachsen-Meiningen (1853-1923) as well as three works by the Austrian composer Franz Cibulka (1946-2016) which have never been performed in the United States (Sonatine, Musik für Klarinettenquartett, and Suite No.10). Mark Pipes will surprise the audience with a selection of both unaccompanied and accompanied saxophone pieces.
The Noon Concert Series is a weekly opportunity to experience the sounds of the PSU School of Music & Theater. Join us on Thursdays during fall, winter, and spring terms for a diverse program of concerts featuring students, faculty, and special guests.
