All officers of the Residence Hall Association are expected too:

All RHA Executive Board officers are required to follow general duties in addition to their respective position descriptions.  The RHA Director does not act as a voting member for the Executive Board or General Assembly unless to break a tie.

 

  1. Shall act as a voting member of the Executive Board and General Assembly
  2. Shall uphold the RHA constitution and bylaws
  3. Shall attend weekly Executive Board meetings
  4. Shall attend weekly General Assembly meetings
  5. Shall coordinate RHA programs and activities
  6. Shall submit one OTM per term
  7. Shall maintain 8 office hours a week, 5 of which are in the office
  8. Shall represent RHA at Move-in, Viking Days, and other campus wide events
  9. Shall build rapport that creates a positive working relationship with University students and staff
  10. Shall transition documents at the end of the term of office or upon departure

Position Descriptions

RHA Director  

  1. Shall develop and implement a strategic plan for RHA
  2. Shall organize and preside over General Assembly and Executive Board meetings, which includes the preparation of agendas
  3. Shall interpret the constitution
  4. Shall serve on the constitution revision committee
  5. Shall serve as the official spokesperson for the RHA
  6. Shall create and dissolve all ad-hoc committees.
  7. Shall plan RHA leadership trainings & retreats
  8. Shall attend regional and national conferences
  9. Shall perform weekly meetings with each Executive Board member
  10. Shall attend weekly meetings with the Advisor

Associate Director of RHA

  1. Shall perform duties of the Director in their absence.
  2. Shall conduct the RHA Election Process
  3. Shall fulfill duties of vacant positions until vacancies are filled.
  4. Shall serve on the Community Beautification Task Force
  5. Shall represent RHA at the Associated Students of Portland State University (ASPSU) meetings.
  6. Shall participate in weekly meetings with RHA Director
  7. Shall conduct weekly meeting with the Advisor

National Communications Coordinator

  1. Shall build and maintain communications with regional and national organizations, including NRHH, NIC, and RBD
  2. Shall serve as the Community Representative liaison
  3. Shall attend all PACURH Regional Chats
  4. Shall complete the RHA affiliation process to be recognized by NACURH, which includes writing the RFI
  5. Shall update the Executive Board on regional and national business
  6. Shall work in conjunction with NRHH on bidding for regional and national awards
  7. Shall coordinate delegation selection, registration, and travel arrangements for all regional and national conferences
  8. Shall update and maintain conference related resources
  9. Shall attend all PACURH & NACURH conferences
  10. Shall participate in weekly meetings with RHA Director
  11. Shall conduct weekly meetings with Advisor

Operations Coordinator

  1. Shall be responsible for maintaining the electronic files and resources regarding all RHA business
  2. Shall record and distribute the minutes of all RHA meetings.
  3. Shall be responsible for keeping attendance records at General Assembly meetings
  4. Shall keep all correspondence for RHA
  5. Shall maintain the RHA website and social media accounts
  6. Shall secure facilities for all meetings, programs, and events
  7. Shall act as the historian for each event
  8. Shall participate in weekly meetings with RHA Director
  9. Shall conduct weekly meeting with the Advisor

Finance Coordinator

  1. Shall develop and maintain a budget for RHA
  2. Shall be responsible for the proper accounting of receipts and disbursements of RHA
  3. Shall manage the budget allocation process
  4. Shall report on the financial condition of RHA at every meeting
  5. Shall compile an annual expense report
  6. Shall chair the budget revision committee
  7. Shall serve on the Community Beautification Task Force
  8. Shall participate in weekly meetings with RHA Director
  9. Shall attend weekly meeting with the Advisor

Programs & Events Coordinator

  1. Shall serve as a voting member of the delegation and the Executive Board
  2. Shall work with the Community Representatives to generate one campus wide program for each term
  3. Shall facilitate the program scheduling in conjunction with the Executive Board for each term
  4. Shall coordinate publicity for all RHA programs and events to be distributed throughout campus
  5. Shall manage all programming forms, which include proposals, evaluations, host lists, and interest surveys
  6. Shall compile annual programming report to be placed in transition binder
  7. Shall participate in weekly meetings with RHA Director
  8. Shall conduct weekly meeting with the Advisor

Community Garden Coordinator

  1. Shall maintain communication and records for the Community Garden.
  2. Shall develop and implement at least one garden event a month
  3. Shall manage application and key assignment process for plot distribution
  4. Shall establish and uphold Community Garden policies and procedures
  5. Shall hold Community Garden meetings once a term.
  6. Shall act as a liaison with other sustainability units on campus
  7. Shall participate in weekly meetings with RHA Director
  8. Shall conduct weekly meetings with Advisor

National Communications Coordinator – In Training (IT)

  1. Shall shadow the current NCC and assist with conference preparation
  2. Shall attend the NACURH conference
  3. Shall have weekly meetings with the NCC

Community Garden Coordinator – In Training (IT)

  1. Shall shadow the current CGC and assist with garden management
  2. Shall participate in the plot and key assignment process
  3. Shall have weekly meetings with the CGC
