PURCHASE / CANCEL MEMBERSHIP & REC CENTER ACCESS
STUDENTS
- Every student who takes one credit or more at Portland State University is automatically a member of the Rec Center and has access to the facility and programs offered.
- Your photo on a PSU OneCard is your pass into the Student Rec Center. If you have a PSU OneCard without a photo, simply activate your card online and go to ID services in Neuberger Hall to be photographed. A replacement card with your new photo will then be mailed to you at no charge. For questions about the PSU OneCard, please contact Card Services.
- If you forget your PSU OneCard, you may use a government-issued photo ID such as a driver's license or passport to access the facility.
- Children and dependants of members (age 17 or younger) may use the Rec Center during designated youth hours or for special youth events. More information may be found under Youth Program.
FACULTY/STAFF
- All benefits-eligible faculty and staff must use payroll deduction in Banweb to become members (check with HR to see if you are benefits-eligible). It is not pre-tax and membership becomes active the day AFTER you sign up on Banweb.
To sign up for membership:
- Log on to MyPSU
- Select "Employee Services"
- Select "Benefits and Deductions"
- Select "Add a New Benefit or Deduction"
- Select "Campus Rec Center Membership"
- Non-benefits eligible staff may purchase a membership at the Member Services desk for 1,3, or 12 months. You must provide a CURRENT faculty/staff ID with an expiration date of contract.
- Faculty may self-sponsor themselves for $5/day.
- You must have a current PSU Faculty/Staff ID to access the building. Contact Card Services in Neuberger Hall to get a new card with an imbedded bar-code.
- If you wish to cancel your membership, you must do so by logging on to your MyPSU account by the 10th at 12:00 pm of each month in order for payroll deduction to stop for that month. If you cancel after that time, the membership will be canceled for the following month.
- Faculty/Staff on 9-month contracts will be able to do automatic payment only when they are receiving a paycheck. For the months that you do not receive a paycheck, you must purchase a membership at the Member Services desk.
- Children and dependants of members (age 17 or younger) may use the Rec Center during designated youth hours or for special youth events. More information may be found under Youth Program.
ALUMNI
- Alumni memberships can be purchased by 1 month/3 months/12 months.
- Alumni must provide proof of affiliation with the Alumni Association (or proof of graduation) to the Member Services desk upon purchase of the monthly membership.
- Children and dependants of members (age 17 or younger) may use the Rec Center during designated youth hours or for special youth events. More information may be found under Youth Program.
AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIPS (i.e. - Spouses/Domestic Partners, Faculty Emeriti)
- Affiliates include Spouses, Domestic Partners and Faculty Emeriti.
- In order to qualify for a Spouse or Domestic Partner membership, an exisiting member of the Rec Center (Student or Faculty/Staff/Alumni members) must come with you and present both of your photo IDs AND a document that demonstrates that you both reside at the same address such as a utility bill.
- Affiliate memberships may be purchased at the Member Services desk for 1, 3, or 12 months at a time. Spouses or Domestic Partners of students may only purchase up to 3 months of membership, in line with the term.
- Affiliate memberships will expire upon the end of the length of the paid membership. You will be notified when your membership is close to expiration so you have an opportunity to renew without your membership lapsing.
- Children and dependants of members (age 17 or younger) may use the Rec Center during designated youth hours or for special youth events. More information may be found under Youth Program.
LOCKER / TOWEL INFO
DAY-USE LOCKERS
- Day-use lockers for use while in the building are available at no charge. You will need to supply your own lock and remove your belongings when you leave the Rec Center.
- The day-use lockers are small and measure 19.5" H x 11.75" W x 10.5" deep. You may wish to consider renting a locker in Smith Student Union to store larger items.
LONG-TERM LOCKERS (FACULTY LOCKERS VS STUDENT LOCKER)
- A bank of lockers in both the Men’s and Women’s Locker rooms is designated for faculty and staff members. The rest of the lockers are for student members and persons with disabilities.
- Faculty/Staff can pay for their lockers for 1, 3, or 12 months at a time.
- Student Members can pay for their lockers for either 1 or 3 months at a time, in line with the current term.
IMPOUND POLICY
- It is a patron’s responsibility to renew their locker by the expiration date. After the expiration date, the locker is subject to impound. Items impounded from a locker will be held up to 3 weeks. Any items after this period will be donated.
- Every Wednesday, Member Services makes courtesy calls and sends e-mails to patrons whose lockers will expire within the week of their expiration. Patrons have until the following Tuesday to renew their locker. These calls and e-mails serve as a reminder, but it is ultimately the member’s responsibility to renew their locker by their expiration date. If a locker is still not renewed, the locker will be impounded and released.
TOWEL SERVICE
- You are encouraged to bring your own towel, but towels will be available on a rental basis for a small monthly or day-use fee.
